BANKNOTES FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Many of the World's Finest Specimen & Proof Banknotes

Banknotes from Uruguay

Home

The Uruguay Republic was established in 1830, and the country soon thereafter began issuing banknotes through a variety of issuing agencies including state-sponsored entities and private banks.  Many of the notes have attractive vignettes and colors, helping to attract and build a collector base.

The PMG population reports show that a high percentage of the pre-1900 notes that have been graded to date are proofs and specimens.  Most of the individual issues are scarce, with only one or two examples graded.

Below you will find pictures of two banknotes from Uruguay from the collection.  The El Banco Italiano note, which is priced as "Rare" in the Catalog, is a colorful proof from 1867.  It was printed by The American Bank Note Company.  PMG graded it a Proof 68 with Exceptional Paper Quality.

You will also find below a partial list of the items available for sale or trade.  High-quality scans can be emailed upon request.  Many other items are available for sale or trade, so please inquire if you have specific wants.  All items listed are subject to prior sale.

Items on our want list include high-grade specimen, proof, and issued banknotes from most any country.  PMG certification is a plus.
